PERL – Our Story
Peter has been the electrical industry as a Registered Electrician since 1983. An extremely experienced electrician, there isn’t much that Peter hasn’t done in the electrical industry. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience from residential to commercial, rural to industrial electrical work. He is highly skilled in the design and installation of lighting illumination, EV Charging, CCTV, Vantage Automation, Weiss Automation and is also thermography certified.
After being involved in an electrical business in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty as an on the tools Registered Electrician through to the Operations Manager to the role of General Manager, Peter decided in 2015, that the time was right to step out on his own and thus ETC Electrical Solutions Limited was established in the Tauranga market.
Since its inception, ETC Electrical Solutions have completed numerous significant projects in the Commercial and Domestic field throughout the wider Western Bap of Plenty. ETC joined PERL Electrical in early 2023 after a rigorous process getting to understand PERL Electrical. Peter has always wanted to be apart of something bigger with the enormous leverage PERL Electrical provides Peter intends to leverage the significant opportunities for the benefit of his business, his team and his clients.
On a more personal note Peter has been involved with sport most of his life. He’s an avid rugby union and league supporter having played both sports until 1993, including a spell representing Waikato Rep Rugby League.
He played rugby union until 1989 and in the late 1990’s coached rugby from juniors up to college 1st 15 level.
As Peter got older (and wiser), he moved away from contact sports into Golf, Squash, Hunting and Fishing.
These days fishing is his passion where you will often find him in his days off fishing with customers, friends, and family on his boat on the harbour in the Mount. One customer recently caught his first keepable Kingfish at 960mm (he was a very happy man!).
I have a lovely wife Sharon and we have been married for 40 years. Sharon assists the team on the admin side of the business, but more often is the one that keeps Peter in line with life. Peter and Sharon are blessed with a daughter and son, who are married with kids of their own.
Their daughter is in Christchurch (which allows Peter to visit there) with her husband and 2 sons.
My son (also keen fisher man) also lives Tauranga with his wife and 3 daughters.
Peter and Sharon are active members of the Churches in New Zealand and regular attend on Sunday gatherings. They have been actively involved in many youth ministries (Youth Pastor), home group leaders, prayer teams, marriage counselling, pastor in Palmerston North, Church Eldership positions (Property and team management).
Peter and Sharon arrived in Tauranga in 2007 and say “we really enjoy the weather and people here”.
Peter said “2022 was the year I started looking at ways to further develop my business and myself. While in this frame of mind I was in Christchurch and noticed a distinct vehicle went past me with PERL Electrical on it (which I could not miss seeing this Vehicle). So I googled the business and found it was a franchise membership”
This started a 2-month Investigation of the PERL Franchise and where the operations were, what it fundamentals were, suppliers, benefits etc.
And there was nothing in the Bay of Plenty area, so I made contact with Andrew and went through the opportunities, benefits and requirements that would be ahead of me for being part of the PERL Electrical Membership
I was generally excited and re-ignited my passion for what is ahead of me.
It’s been great to talk to Andrew often several times a day if I need. We have similar ideas but can discuss things openly with the intent to make everyone successful. This operating style works really well and I enjoy the opportunity to discuss, strategize and contribute to the wider business. I feel 100% involved and part of a larger focused and driven PERL team where my opinion counts. I’m thrilled I made the decision to become a part of the PERL Electrical family. Everything we do at PERL is about the franchise member and the customer. We focus entirely on ensuring that the electrical services we provide for our customers create a simple, efficient and stress-free experience. I’m so excited about the future.
