A heat pump in a busy family home, a coastal property or a commercial space with long operating hours will usually need more attention than one used lightly. The aim is straightforward: maintain efficient airflow, identify problems early and keep the system operating safely through summer and winter.
What you can check between professional services
Most day-to-day maintenance is simple, but always switch the unit off at the isolator or use the remote to power it down before cleaning. Do not remove electrical covers, touch wiring or attempt repairs to refrigerant lines. Those tasks must be left to a suitably qualified professional.
Clean the indoor filters
Filters are the first item to check. They capture dust, lint and airborne particles before they move through the indoor unit. When filters become clogged, airflow drops, heating and cooling take longer, and the unit may consume more electricity to achieve the same temperature.
